Abbas-Mustan have formally opened the campaign for their next thriller, 3 Monkeys, with a first poster and teaser that show the cast but not the game. Mustafa Burmawala leads the masked trio as Akbar, while Vishal Jethwa and Tenzin Dalha play Amar and Anthony, and Arjun Rampal steps in as Sanjay.

The teaser opens with the familiar Three Wise Monkeys image, then cuts to the three actors in masks. There are flashes of danger and a lighter, more playful side, but no clear explanation of what the trio is actually involved in. The makers are keeping the full premise locked away.

Who is behind the masks

  • Mustafa Burmawala as Akbar — the actor returns after making his debut with Machine.
  • Vishal Jethwa as Amar — one of the three masked leads.
  • Tenzin Dalha as Anthony — rounding out the central trio.
  • Arjun Rampal as Sanjay — the fourth key name in the announcement.

A familiar proverb, flipped

The film borrows the familiar philosophy of “Bura Mat Dekho, Bura Mat Suno, Bura Mat Bolo” and gives it a modern spin with the line “Sab Dekho. Apni Suno. Bekhauf Bolo.” That update matters for a thriller built on what people choose to see, hear and say.

Directors Abbas and Mustan told Bollywood Hungama, “There is much more happening behind those masks, and that is the mystery we want audiences to discover in cinemas.”

The names are doing the talking

Naming the three leads Amar, Akbar and Anthony gives Hindi movie audiences an immediate point of recognition. The campaign borrows that familiarity and then refuses to explain the plot, which is an efficient way to create curiosity without over-explaining the film this early.

Why the secrecy works

For fans, the appeal is the distance between what the first look shows and what it refuses to explain. The cast is revealed by name, but the motives, conflict and genre stakes remain open — a possible robbery, heist or larger setup. That gives the campaign room to release more material between now and December without burning its biggest twists. It also positions the film as an event for cinemas, not just another title in the feed.

Mustafa Burmawala sounded equally aware of what an Abbas-Mustan project carries. “I’m really excited to be a part of 3 Monkeys, especially because it is an Abbas-Mustan film. They have created some of the most memorable thrillers, so getting an opportunity to work with them is very special for me. This film has a very interesting and different thriller story, and I’m sure audiences are going to enjoy the twists and turns,” he said.

What to do before December

3 Monkeys is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on December 4, 2026. Treat the teaser as a character introduction rather than a full plot reveal, and add the film to the end-of-year watchlist now. The real answer to what Amar, Akbar and Anthony are doing is being saved for the big screen.
