Akshay Kumar and Sajid Khan’s next comedy is shaping up as a genuine multi-starrer. R Madhavan, Disha Patani and Shriya Saran have joined the cast of the untitled film, which Ektaa R Kapoor is producing as an out-and-out comedy.
The headline addition is the Akshay Kumar–R Madhavan pairing. The two actors were on opposing sides in Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh (2025), a courtroom drama. The new project flips that equation into comedy, and the makers see their pairing as one of the film’s key elements.
From courtroom rivalry to comic pair
Where Kesari Chapter 2 used the friction between the leads, this film is designed around their comic chemistry. Disha Patani and Shriya Saran have also come on board as the romantic leads.
The story is said to revolve around middle-aged men and will follow a comedy-of-errors format. That gives the film a farcical structure in which small misunderstandings spiral into bigger complications, a format that suits an ensemble more than a single-hero plot.
What we know so far
- The crew: Sajid Khan directs, with Ektaa R Kapoor producing.
- The cast: Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, Disha Patani and Shriya Saran lead the ensemble.
- The format: An out-and-out comedy-of-errors built around middle-aged men.
- The schedule: The film is expected to go on floors in London by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
- The order of work: Akshay joins after wrapping Samuk, Kanishk Varma’s alien survival thriller; Sajid first completes Hero Ki Horrorine with Yashvardhan Ahuja and Nitanshi Goel.
Why the reunion matters
Akshay and Sajid have already delivered Heyy Babyy, Housefull and Housefull 2, comedies that still run on television and OTT. That history gives the new film a built-in audience before a single frame is shown.
The additions make this more than a nostalgia bet. Madhavan is a strong second lead, and the London schedule points to a large-scale production rather than a quick comedy. A start-to-finish shoot also usually means the makers are prioritising consistency in comic timing.
What we will be watching for
The real test is whether Sajid Khan can bring back the rhythmic absurdity that made the Housefull films work. If Disha Patani and Shriya Saran are written as active participants in the mess rather than passive romantic interests, the film could become a proper four-hander.
