418 Trailer: Prashanth Neel’s Dussehra Horror Is All Dread

The 418 Hindi trailer promises serious, atmospheric horror with Room No. 418 as the scare centre. Here is my early read.

418 (2026): the trailer. Video: Mythri Movie Makers on YouTube. Shown for review.

I went into the 418 Hindi trailer expecting a jump-scare machine. What I got was something slower, stranger and more confident: a serious, atmospheric horror film that is hiding more than it shows.

What it is

418 is the directorial debut of Kirtan Nadagouda, who has also written the story. It is presented by Prashanth Neel, produced by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, and stars Chaithra Achar, Surya Raj, Charan Lakkaraju, Preethi Pagadala and Shashank Patil. It releases worldwide on 23 October 2026, in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, just in time for Dussehra.

What the trailer promises

The promise is in the tone. Mythri calls this a serious and unsettling exploration of fear, and the footage backs that up: no comedy, no detours, no relief cuts. We get a haunted house that birds refuse to enter, 18-year-old Vivek caught between reality and hallucination, and the VIMS building, sealed for 15 years and reopened against local opposition because Room No. 418 holds a terrifying secret.

What it holds back

Smartly, the trailer never tells us exactly what is inside Room 418. I don’t know whether Vivek is seeing ghosts or losing his mind, and I don’t know how Devika fits into the puzzle. The film is being positioned as a psychological thriller in its early portions and a supernatural horror in its second half, but the exact shape of that shift is still under wraps.

The moment everyone will talk about

Chaithra Achar’s entry as Devika. The trailer shifts gears the moment she appears, and she brings the most unnerving images in the cut. If the film can sustain that second-half mood, she could be the breakout.

Where this sits

For Prashanth Neel this is a smart presenting move: it is smaller and scarier than KGF or Salaar, but it carries the same scale. For Mythri Movie Makers, it is a proper swing into horror under the MythriBringsHorror banner. For Chaithra Achar, the Devika entry could turn a supporting part into a breakout. For Kirtan Nadagouda, it is a debut that already looks controlled.

The honest verdict

This looks worth the ticket. Dinesh Divakar’s cinematography, Venky GG’s score and Ullas Hydoor’s production design give the haunted house real presence. The risk is that the room’s secret becomes familiar once it is finally revealed. Right now, though, 418 feels like a horror film that respects its audience enough to let the dread build.
