Eetha Trailer: Shraddha Kapoor Becomes a Lavani Legend

The first Eetha trailer puts Shraddha Kapoor at the heart of a Lavani musical drama, with Maddock Films aiming for a big December 2026 theatrical event.

I went into the Eetha trailer expecting a star vehicle. I came out thinking about Lavani and the women who built it, which is exactly what a first trailer for a musical drama should do.

Eetha, from Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, is directed by Laxman Utekar and stars Shraddha Kapoor in and as Eetha Bai, a role modelled on Lavani legend Vithabai Narayangaonkar. Dinesh Vijan and Laxman Utekar produce; Randeep Hooda is also in the ensemble. The film releases in cinemas on December 4, 2026.

What the trailer promises

The teaser promises a full-blooded period musical, not a sombre biopic. It places Lavani’s music, performances and cultural traditions at the centre, and frames the story as one about courage, sacrifice and the women who shaped the art. That is a strong pitch, especially because Hindi cinema has not explored this world often.

What it holds back is just as interesting. We see the artist, the stage and hints of struggle, but not the full arc. No big plot giveaways, no complete songs, no easy emotional summary. It is a confident first look that trusts the world to do the selling.

The moment everyone will loop

For me, the moment is Shraddha’s first full Lavani turn. The trailer builds toward it rather than burying it, and the image of her holding the stage is likely to become the film’s defining frame. That is the shot I will carry until the next promo drops.

Where this sits

Eetha is Shraddha’s reunion with Maddock after Stree and Stree 2, which matters because that pairing has real audience warmth. It is also Laxman Utekar’s follow-up to Chhaava, but in a completely different tempo. Dinesh Vijan puts the intention neatly:

Perhaps it’s time we gave just as much love to their stories.

That line is the film’s pitch: celebrate the art, but finally see the women behind it.

Verdict

On this evidence, yes, Eetha looks worth the ticket. The trailer is selling mood, music and performance more than story, so the film could still be a gorgeous showcase rather than a great drama. But for Shraddha in this register, a director with visual confidence and a world that feels fresh, I am in for opening weekend. A second trailer with a full song and a sharper look at the conflict will tell me just how in.
