Kaali Kheti's teaser keeps its village horror moody and mysterious, with Jackie Shroff and Sharad Kelkar leading the November 20 release.

I went into the Kaali Kheti teaser knowing only two things: Jackie Shroff is in it, and the title translates to something close to dark farming. After watching, that second thing feels like the whole warning. This is not a teaser that needs to explain itself in the first ten seconds.

The film is written and directed by Haris Imtiyaz Khan, produced by Sana Khan under the BlackCanvas Studio banner, and arrives in cinemas on November 20, 2026. Alongside Jackie Shroff and Sharad Kelkar, the cast includes Neha Sargam, Virendra Saxena and Shaji Choudhary.

What the teaser promises

The teaser commits to atmosphere over exposition. This is a village living under something it cannot name, and the film is treating its agricultural landscape as a character rather than a backdrop. That is a promising choice for horror fans who want mood, place and local folklore more than quick jump scares.

It also promises two very watchable leads. Shroff brings that lived-in, weathered authority, and Kelkar has the kind of voice and stillness that can make a simple warning feel like a threat. The teaser does not tell us exactly who they are, and that ambiguity is doing a lot of work.

What it holds back

Almost everything. We do not get the central mystery, the nature of the force, the rules of the haunting, or whether this is supernatural at all. The teaser asks whether the horror is in the land, in local belief, or in what the villagers may have done. For a rural horror film, that restraint is genuinely encouraging.

The moment everyone will talk about

For me, it is the way the title lands as a warning rather than a name. The teaser does not oversell a monster; it sells the idea of a bad harvest of something. That notion, that kaali kheti could be a punishment, a curse, or a hidden truth, is the conversation starter fans will replay.

Where this sits

For Jackie Shroff, this continues a late-career run where he brings presence to smaller genre films without carrying them alone. For Sharad Kelkar, it is another chance to show why he belongs in dark, mythic material. For BlackCanvas Studio, this teaser positions Kaali Kheti as a folklore-first horror film rather than a cheap rural thriller.

Verdict

I am in. Not because the teaser gives everything away, but because it knows exactly what to withhold. If the film can hold this tone and give the fear a real reason to linger, it could become one of the Hindi horror titles people actually remember. Do I want a ticket? Yes, but I am walking into the theatre hoping for more than just fog and whispers.
