I’ll admit, when a teaser opens on a marriage at breaking point, I brace for familiar beats. But Love Always, JioHotstar’s new Tamil original, has a wild card: it is being billed as India’s first adaptation of a Korean webtoon. That is enough to make me pay attention, and the teaser rewards that attention with something warmer and stranger than a routine family drama.
Directed by Madhumita and produced by Kross Pictures and Guru Films, Love Always adapts Here We Go Again, the webtoon created by Goeun and published on Kakao between 2015 and 2017. The eight-episode series, with episodes around 30 minutes each, drops on JioHotstar on October 30. Gouri G Kishan and Ramzan Muhammed lead the cast, joined by Jayaprakash, Jayasudha and Maya Krishnan. It will stream in Tamil, with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali.
What the teaser promises
The premise is inherently watchable: a married couple decides they are done, and then a magical twist turns them young again. That gives them—and us—a chance to re-enter the relationship from the start, with all the knowledge of how it went wrong. The teaser leans into the emotional whiplash of that idea: regret, attraction, confusion and hope all colliding in the same frame. It promises the quick, panel-like energy of a webtoon, but grounds it in recognizably Indian family textures.
What it holds back
What the teaser doesn’t show is how rigorously the series will use the fantasy. Will the young versions carry the memories of their older selves? How much time will the show spend in the past, and how much in the present? The teaser wisely keeps its rules hidden, because that mystery is the engine. It also holds back the tone: this could become a sweet second-chance romance, a prickly marriage comedy, or a full-blown family weepie, and the teaser suggests it may try to be all three.
The moment everyone will talk about
The instant the couple’s anger tips into recognition—when they are suddenly young again and realise they have to meet the person they already married—is the hook. It is not just a transformation beat; it is the show’s central question made visual. If that moment lands for you, Love Always will be hard to skip.
Where this sits
For JioHotstar, this is a smart swing: an adaptation with a built-in story engine and a cross-cultural hook. For Madhumita, it is a chance to bring emotional detail to a high-concept format. And for the cast, especially Gouri G Kishan, it looks like a role with real emotional range.
The honest verdict
I’m in. The teaser is more promise than proof, and the format could tip into gimmick if the writing doesn’t match the invention. But as a fan who wants Indian streaming to take bigger swings, I’d rather watch a strange, sincere marriage drama with a magical twist than another show playing it safe. October 30 is circled.
