What the numbers say
Khurrana’s listed run stretches from a 2012 debut to a 2026 release, with 22 films on the page and figures available for 10. The headline read is a success record built on a very specific window: a 60 percent hit rate, an average multiple of 4.67 and a reported total gross of Rs 1,657.9 crore. But the shape of that record matters more than the average. The table above shows a career that spiked hard between 2018 and 2020, then fell back toward breakeven. For Gulabo Sitabo, Doctor G and An Action Hero, Wikipedia carries no figures, so they sit outside the multiple sample; Article 15 shows a Rs 93.08 crore gross but no budget or multiple.
The hits and the misses
The biggest hit is Andhadhun (2018): a Rs 32 crore budget against Rs 456.89 crore gross, for a 14.28 multiple and a Blockbuster verdict. The weakest return is Anek (2022): Rs 40 crore in, Rs 11.1 crore out, a 0.28 multiple and a Flop verdict. Between those extremes, the page logs 6 hits and 6 blockbusters, against 1 average and 3 flops. That is the Khurrana contradiction: the verdict column looks strong because it rewards the 2018–19 run, while the recent multiples are far more modest.
The trend
The recent five against the previous five is where the scorecard turns. The previous five — Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho, Dream Girl, Bala and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan — averaged a 7.77 multiple, with no film below 2.9. The recent five — Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Anek, Dream Girl 2, Thamma and Patni Patni Aur Woh Do — average 1.56. That group includes three Flop verdicts, one Average, and only one Blockbuster, Dream Girl 2, at a far lower 4.02 multiple. The trend is not that he stopped getting releases; it is that his returns stopped clearing the bar his own peak set.
What it means for his next film and for the industry
For Khurrana, the next theatrical release has to be a reset, because the recent data reads as a return to earth. Thamma, on a Rs 145 crore budget, returned Rs 169.75 crore — a 1.17 multiple — and the 2026 release Patni Patni Aur Woh Do is only a 1.28 multiple. For the industry, Khurrana is a useful case study in how a 4.67 average multiple can hide a split record: 14.28 at the top and 0.28 at the bottom, with the recent five at 1.56. The streaming-era star is therefore no longer a guaranteed theatrical multiplier; the next film will have to prove that the audience still buys his brand outside the 2018–19 high.
