I’ve had Dard E Dil on repeat for the last few minutes, and I’ll say this: it doesn’t try to be subtle. Gunmaaster G9 has been sold as an action romance, and this is the song that finally puts the romance front and centre. Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh lead a track composed and sung by Himesh Reshammiya and Akasa Singh, with lyrics by Sonia Kapoor Reshammiya. The melody is warm, the hook is clean, and the whole thing sounds like it was built for a theatre speaker.
What the song promises is simple. It promises a real romantic thread, not a token duet, and it gives the Emraan-Genelia pairing its own musical high. Producer Deepak Mukut says exactly that—the film needed music that adds to the experience, and this is meant to be that moment. It also promises that Himesh is treating the album as a serious push. He points to the blockbuster run of Afsaana Banaaya Aapne and Do Do Din Ki Zindagi, which he says have collectively crossed 300 million views. That tells me the team is not treating the music as filler.
What it holds back is just as clear. This is a song cut, not a full trailer, so we don’t get the plot, the action choreography, Aparshakti Khurana’s part, or the actual stakes of the title. That’s fine—but it means the film is currently asking us to trust the romance first and the gun later.
The moment everyone will talk about isn’t a visual; it’s the hook. Director Aditya Datt says the mukhda and hook line remind him of his grandfather, the late Anand Bakshi, and his iconic Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar from Karz. It’s a different composition, but that emotional connection gives the song a second life for anyone who grew up on the original. I can already see the comments.
Gunmaaster G9 sits nicely for Emraan. After years of thrillers and dramas, a full-on action romance with a melody like this plays to his fanbase. For Genelia, it’s the kind of big-screen pairing that can make the film feel like an event. For the producers and Soham Rockstar Entertainment, it’s a wide theatrical swing ahead of a 27 November 2026 release, with PEN Marudhar on India distribution and Phar Films overseas.
Honest verdict? As a song, Dard E Dil does its job. It’s hummable, warm, and makes me curious about the film’s romantic core. As a ticket pitch, it’s half the story. I’m not booking just yet—I need the full trailer to show me the action, the world, and why the title matters. But if the rest of the album keeps this melody, the music alone might get me into the theatre.
