I’ll admit it: when a superstar launches a first-time hero, I brace for the usual debut template. Itlu Arjuna is not that film. Jr NTR just unveiled the trailer, and the first thing that stands out is what Anish is not asked to do—speak.
The Telugu romantic entertainer is directed by Mahesh Uppala, who makes his directorial debut, and produced by Venky Kudumula, with Nagarjuna presenting and S Thaman scoring the music. Anish makes his debut as a hero opposite Anaswara Rajan. After moving from an October 30 date, it is set for November 13, 2026.
The trailer promises a knotty ride: Arjun is speech-impaired and a skilled thief, which makes him the prime suspect after a robbery. He is in love with Keerthy, a sincere student who believes he is a good person. Then a gang starts hunting for a pen drive tied to Rs 1,000 crore, and suddenly both the gang and the police are after the couple. That is romance, crime and a chase, sold in that order.
What the trailer holds back is just as interesting. We do not yet know why Arjun steals, how Keerthy will react when the truth lands, or where the pen drive really is. That restraint gives the film room to surprise, instead of blowing the whole plot in two and a half minutes.
The moment everyone will talk about
For me, it is Arjun’s silence being treated as a dramatic weapon rather than a limitation. The trailer lets his face do the talking. Jr NTR’s praise already feels like the film’s one-line campaign:
Your debut speaks without a single word and that takes real guts.
A debut hero choosing a speech-impaired part is a risk, and it immediately makes Anish more interesting than another newcomer walking away from an explosion.
Where this sits
For Anish, this is a high-curiosity first move. For Venky Kudumula and Nagarjuna, it is a presentation-driven bet on a new face and a first-time director. S Thaman’s score will have to carry a lot of the emotional legwork, and from the trailer, it is already doing that in the chase stretches.
Honest verdict
Does it look worth the ticket? Yes, if you want a Telugu romantic thriller that cares about its characters before the set pieces. The real test is whether Anish can hold the screen without dialogue for a full film, and whether the second half keeps the tension alive. As a trailer, Itlu Arjuna does exactly what it should: it makes me want to know what Arjun is hiding—and whether Keerthy stays when she finds out.
