Mammootty’s filmography is a scale story first: 412 films from a 1979 debut through 2026, 6 awards, and 39 films in the last decade alone. The table above carries only part of that record, so this scorecard is deliberately limited to the figures the page provides.
What the numbers say
The modern record is a mix of volume and vulnerability. On the entries with full data, the table reports a 43% hit rate, 3 hits, 2 blockbusters and 4 flops, with an average multiple of 1.54. Across the recent titles that carry a reported gross, the total is 473.2 crore. That is a substantial number, but it is spread across both clean wins and costly misses. Two 2023 blockbusters, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Kannur Squad, provide much of the upside; the misses are spread across 2023, 2024 and 2026.
The caveat is coverage. Mammootty made 39 films in the last decade, but only 7 carry the full budget-gross-verdict detail. That makes this a snapshot of the reported record, not a verdict on the full filmography. Still, the direction is useful.
The hits and the misses
The biggest reported gross in the recent set is Kalamkaval at 83.0 crore; the table gives no multiple for it. The cleanest win is Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam: a 3.0 crore budget against 9.7 crore gross, a 3.23 multiple and a Blockbuster verdict. Kannur Squad is close behind at 3.08, from 26.0 crore to 80.0 crore. Bramayugam also clears the bar at 2.16, while Rorschach has a 39.0 crore gross but no multiple listed. Bazooka carries a 25.5 crore gross and no multiple.
The weakest return is Agent: 85.0 crore in, 13.0 crore out, a 0.15 multiple and a Flop. It is not the only heavy miss. Christopher returns 0.56, Turbo 1.04, and Patriot 0.57. Yatra 2 and Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse carry neither budget nor gross in the table.
The trend
The recent five average multiple is 1.4, down from 1.9 for the five before. That is the scorecard’s clearest warning: the blockbuster multiples are real, but the downside is getting heavier. Agent at 0.15, Turbo at 1.04 and Patriot at 0.57 show that bigger budgets are not automatically safer for a veteran star.
What it means for the next film and the industry
For Om – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, Wikipedia carries no figures yet, so there is no fair basis for a prediction. The record does suggest a formula: Mammootty’s best multiples come from controlled budgets and strong material, not from scale. Kannur Squad turned 26.0 crore into 80.0 crore; Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam turned 3.0 crore into 9.7 crore. For Malayalam cinema, the strategic read is similar—Kalamkaval may lead the recent gross list at 83.0 crore, but the long-term efficiency depends on avoiding another Agent-sized write-off. The audience is still showing up; the question is whether the budget can follow the script.
