Suriya walked into the audio and trailer launch of Scene with one less worry: his Diwali release no longer has to share screens with Dhanush’s OM: Chapter 1. The actor publicly thanked Dhanush for moving his film, clearing the way for Scene to open worldwide on 6 November 2026.
Two release dates, no box-office collision
Dhanush had originally set OM: Chapter 1 for 16 October 2026. That date was first changed to keep clear of Jailer 2, and the film was moved again so it would not land in the same Diwali window as Scene.
At the event, Suriya did not let the gesture pass quietly. As quoted by Cinema Vikatan, he told the audience that Dhanush “himself tweeted and congratulated me by postponing the release of his film.” He ended with a simple line: “My heartfelt thanks to him!”
For fans, that courtesy matters. A Diwali clash between two star vehicles usually splits screens, showtimes and opening-day attention. A clear date gives Scene room to build word of mouth from its first show.
The One stays, with the fans’ vote
Suriya also used the stage to settle a small question about his public identity. The moniker The One, which stuck with him after Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro, now appears in the Scene trailer. He asked the audience whether he should keep using it.
The room’s response was loud enough for him to confirm: the title stays.
He also looked back at 29 years of fan support, recalling a blood donation camp that drew 5,000 people. It had started with a promise to take photographs with anyone who donated blood.
What to expect from Scene
- Worldwide theatrical release on 6 November 2026, in the Deepavali frame.
- Suriya, Nazriya and Naslen lead, with Jithu Madhavan directing.
- A mix of murder, mystery, psychosis and comedy, scored by Sushin Shyam.
Suriya praised Jithu Madhavan for the worlds he built in Romancham and Aavesham, welcomed Nazriya back to Tamil cinema after 12 years, and singled out Naslen’s Tamil dubbing. His advice to the audience was practical: walk in without expectations and leave happy.
He also paid tribute to composer Deva, who scored his debut Nerukku Ner, remembering the song Aval Varuvala and sending his condolences to Deva’s family.
