I went into the Param Veer teaser wanting a reason to care beyond the usual battlefield flag-waving. The film gives one quickly: this is the story of Lance Naik Albert Ekka, posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, and the 14th Guards regiment at the Battle of Gangasagar. Vardhaan Puri leads, and the teaser frames him as the face of the film’s valour-and-sacrifice mission.
Sumant Raturi writes, directs and produces with Sagar Gowda, under HVJ Media and Myradha Motion Pictures. Santosh Sivan is on cinematography, which is quietly the biggest craft name here. The teaser sells scale and patriotic fire, but it holds back the full cast, a release date and the texture of the battle sequences. For now, it is a promise of intent more than a finished look.
What the teaser promises
The teaser promises a big-screen war drama that wants to live in the same emotional lane as classic 1971 stories, but with a specific true-life anchor. It is not positioning itself as a generic action film. The Albert Ekka name does real work, because his Param Vir Chakra story carries built-in stakes: a man, a regiment, a battle, a sacrifice. That specificity is the most encouraging thing here.
What it holds back
We still do not know the release date, the wider supporting cast or how much of the budget will go into practical battlefield craft versus digital scale. Santosh Sivan’s involvement suggests the visuals will not be lazy, but a teaser can only show intent. The film still has to prove it can build characters, not just tableaux of sacrifice.
The moment I keep thinking about
The moment that will travel is the commitment to Lance Naik Albert Ekka’s name: it turns a war drama into a tribute. Everyone will talk about whether Vardhaan Puri can carry that weight, and whether the film treats the true story with the gravity it deserves.
Where this sits
For Vardhaan Puri, this is a lead role that asks him to shift from performer to flag-bearer of a national war story. For the producers, it is a chance to enter the patriotic-drama space with a built-in true-life hook. With no release date yet, Param Veer is not asking me to book a ticket this week. It is asking me to keep watching.
My verdict: the teaser gives me enough to stay interested, and the Santosh Sivan factor makes it feel like a big-screen outing rather than a quick OTT afterthought. If the film delivers the emotional detail and battle choreography it is teasing, I will be there on day one.
